MUSTANG COUPE (1966)

INDEX>INSTRUMENTS, STEREO, WIPER/WASHER

The Instrument cluster was stripped down and reconditioned. Rubber mounts on Speedos were replaced and Speedo checked for correct operation. Voltmeter was rewound but eventually disconnected as the higher ampere alternator caused it to go almost full-scale deflection.

A small hole was drilled in the voltmeter gauge black panel and a light fitted for the alternator charging circuit (on - when failed).

The Temp gauge was check and left standard.

The oil gauge was checked and left standard.

The petrol gauge was check and left as standard.

The cardboard backlights were checked and the blue plastic lenses were burnt due to higher ampere bulb (which were removed). The instrument lights were replaced with blue lights from autobahn.

A new lens was fitted. A new bezel was used.

Basically the following and more:

The stereo is located in the boot and operated by infrared only, so not to disrupt the classic look of the interior. It consists of  Sony head unit, 10 CD stacker PowerAcoustik amplifier and front and rear speakers. It is located in the boot in a custom steel frame. The original radio has a re-chromed face and is still mounted in the dash. It is still a working unit, however it is not connected.

The wipers have been converted to operate in the opposite direction and the two speed operation has be retained.
